From what I have read, I am of the understanding that you can drive in a north carolina autoX event with your learner’s permit as long as you have a parent or instructor in the car. Is this true?
John. You are correct. I’d recommend reading the section in the SCCA rulebook pertaining to this: 4.13 INSURANCE RELEASE AND WAIVER. Specifically, any driver under the age of 18 must have both parents sign the Minor Waiver Form (found here) and witnessed by an adult SCCA member. Alternatively the form can be notarized. The form is good for all SCCA events for 1 year.
The driver would be registered at the event as part of our standard Novice Class and would be required to have one of our instructors ride along in the passenger seat.
Thank you so much for your reply and the information, i’ll certainly check all of that out!
